WAY OF WISDOM: Finding Purpose in the Third Act of Life
The 50s, 60s and 70s are sometimes known as the RE years – often characterised as the retirement and redundancy years. However we can reframe these years and simple refuse to be redundant. We can reframe this period as one of reflection, revision, revitalisation, renewal, re-affirmmation and re-entry.
Way of Wisdom is a journey of reflection, looking inwards to discover: who we are; what we have to contribute and what we want to do? Along the way we let go of our disappointments and regrets, and rediscover our passions and values.
This program provides an opportunity for reflection and contemplation, in order to
- take stock of our life journey
- recognise the wisdom we’ve gained
- celebrate our achievements
- reflect on our disappointments and losses
- let go of those things that are no longer relevant
- include all of ourselves and broaden our horizons for the future
- recognise what we are passionate about, what turns us on
- embrace our roles as community elders
- plan our living, and our dying
You will come away with a renewed and invigorated sense of direction and purpose, better prepared to move consciously through this major life transition, into your third act of life.

On the retreat Gerry O’Sullivan will be joined by Christina Sumner, the original creator of the program back in 1998. As Christina said back then ” To each of us who has navigated the first fifty years of life on this beautiful and endangered planet comes a time of deep spiritual questioning. This is a time to reassess our priorities, to honour the richness of our life’s experience and the wisdom that it has brought us; a time to reflect on what has been achieved or not achieved, gained or lost, the health of our soul and our connection with spirit. In short to come to terms with ageing and to welcome the transition to the next stage of our life.”

Over one long weekend on a residential retreat in the beautiful and sacred surrounding of Jamberoo Abbey in the magnificent Southern Highland we will have an opportunity to deepen the processes with wise good company.
Jamberoo Abbey is a Benedictine Monastry in the beautiful setting of Jamberoo Mountain and offers a place of peace and contemplation.
All accommodation is in single rooms with shared faciities in fully equiped cottages surrounded by rainforest.
“Guests are welcome to don their walking boots and enjoy a walk through the beautiful rainforest surrounding the Cottages. Sit on a rock by the water, listen to the glorious notes of the native birds, watch out for the cheeky lyre birds darting in and out of the ferns and bushes, experience the grandeur of nature!”
